I bounced back and forth between IT, libraries, and the scholarly world for a few years before taking a job as Digital Initiatives Librarian at Lafayette College in 2005. I have several years of experience running Unix servers, an MA in Shakespeare Studies, and a Library degree too. I wanted to work in libraries so that I could do technical work in the humanities, but I ended up doing a lot of repository work for several years. My library is now starting to focus on digital scholarship, and digital humanities, so I am happy to be headed in that direction again.
